Title: Cee & Blog
Post by: mdelaplane on April 07, 2004, 12:42:10 PM
First of all, I love Blog. Thanks.

One of the things I like about it is the ability to publish different blogs to different locations, which I do. This leads me to my wish item.

The different journals that I publish have very different audiences, consequently the cookies that I use via CEE should be different.

I figured out that the COOKIES.* files are what blog reads from CEE when they are in the blog folder. What I've done to accomodate the different cookies is to install CEE to different locations and generate different sets fo cookies.

Just before I publish a journal I copy the cookies.* files from the appropriate CEE folder and it publishes an appropriate cookie.  One of these days I will get the wrong cookie and will be very embarrassed.

The option for CEE files path as a journal property. With this I would be able to point each journal to an appropriate set of files. This may not be the optimum solution because I would still need to maintain multiple copies of CEE in different folders but I believe it would be relatively easy to implement.

Or, I could simply extend Cee to have a Category type so that you can assign a category to each cookie you enter and then have a mechanism in Blog which allows you to pick the category for each journal - of course, this is very complicated from a programming perspective since I'll have to allow for so many different variables but it should make life easy for the user :p I'll add this to my to-do list but just don't expect it anytime soon since I'm still struggling with work related stuff :)

I was only suggesting something that could be implemented rather easily given the work already on your plate... I certainly would not object to your suggestion.

There is no urgency to this request as I have an adequate workaround.

Thanks for your consideration....and oh...

Blog is awesome.
