Website Log Analyzer?
« on: December 06, 2002, 12:57:01 PM »
How about a Website Log Analyzer? Something with line/bar graphs or pie charts? I don't know how feasible or easy/hard this would be but its just a suggestion . similar to this image ( http://fileforum.betanews.com/screenshots/1027646981.gif ) but not necessarily that in depth or refined (I just included that image because I feel that sometimes I have a hard time conveying what I mean in words   )

The problem with a website log analyzer is that it will need a server-side component to track site visits and that's the part I'm not sure how to implement - if I use PHP everybody might not have PHP. If I use Perl, people might have a hard time setting it up - etc. I like simple, easy to setup solutions :P

LOL. Thanks for the vote of confidence but I do know you had some great ideas for Scope - so if you come up with a *must have* app, lemme know and I'll be sure to code it. Now that BlogMan is sort of stabilizing and I have actually updated the product pages for a bunch of apps, it's time to start thinking of something new :p

You could just parse the logs that a webhost spits out from Apache or IIS.  Thats how most of those web analyzers work anyways.

yeah, all i do is download the log files (which are just text files) from my host space and run an analyzer on them, but I have ( since my original post ) found a really nice free analyzer though. So I don't really think I should waste Fahim's time with this request.
