Blog Feature requests

Below is my wish list - Thanks for some really great software.
*Ability to stop publish process (I realise that this leaves the blog in a state of disrepair, but sometimes it is a simple as forgetting to change a password, or connections problems and then having to wait for each page to fail is anoying.
*Add publish categories as an option to publish blog
    [/list:u]
The items on this list would be great, but could also be provided by allowing Blog to control something like MovableType like BlogMan. Are you going to roll Blog and BlogMan together still 'Please'.
      *publish individual articles
*be able to publish as directories eg /blog/ not /blog/index.html and then /blog/catPersonal/ not /blog/catPersonal.html This would allow people to change/try things like PHP without changing links from external areas
      *create rss feeds
*summary to exclude html tags in word count
      [/list:u]

Yes, the merging of Blog and BlogMan is still the plan - just not sure when ... but somewhere in the 8.0 release :)

You can try out PHP even now - all you have to do is either change the file parsing options on your server so that .htm and .html files are parsed for PHP or use the Blog option to set generated file extensions so that you have .php files instead of .htm or .html.

RSS feeds can be created now with a template - see Tyran's exhaustive comments on this matter elsewhere on the forum :) Yes, I realize that the date format generated by Blog is not what is needed by RSS but I hope to fix that by giving a new option to the date and time tags where you can specify the exact format you want.

As of Blog 8.0 beta 3 the summary feature should be stripping out HTML tags anyway. So the word count for summary *should be* based on the non-HTML tag version of an entry. Please verify this and let me know if this is not so.

I guess my coment of the Directory/PHP request, was more about having cool URL's. In essence while it can be done it is 'better' to not specify the technology or format in a URL and by using a directory URL the web server can load the .html or .php or .gif for that matter. It is one way of helping prevent link rot.

It is 'better' only if everybody knows how to implement these things properly and some of the Blog users might not be as conversant with all the intricacies of using web servers and setting up the default pages to load. Plus, some people don't have an index.php or index.html page generated by Blog - they have a different page (something like blog.htm) which is linked to from their main index page. This might cause problems (no, I haven't thought it out through fully :p) if we were to only specify a directory and not the full URL :)

One more request. Could there be a Find/Replace feature or an Import/Export feature. This would especially helpful as webstandard change and bulk changes are required. Such as the <br> to <br /> tag.
