« on: November 29, 2004, 10:39:40 PM »
hi,

well it was a blank line in the blacklist table.
is weird ...how did it get there ?
I took it out and installed it again and im not deleted by the system now.
Btw...i also tried it with setting moderation ON and it still seems to work but its just installed so it doesnt mean that much yet.

Another thing is bugging me ...
How did thje blank entry got in the blacklist table ?

John

I believe that Cecil had already explained this in another entry - if you don't want to make the code changes he suggested, an easy workaround till I get the next release out is to enable entering an e-mail address to be able to post comments. That's where the problem is ...

Hi...do i understand this correctly ?..."enable entering an e-mail address"
Well i have that set that people MUST enter their email address....but thats set like that from the beginning...

So in order to post comment people must fill in their email...
so is that good or not ?

You would get different opinions from different people on that one I'm afraid :p Some would say that it's pointless to ask people to fill in their e-mail addresses since most will give a fake address anyway and some would point out that the e-mail address commenters provide can be harvested by spammers. I don't display a person's e-mail address on my blog even if they provide one - so that they won't get hit by spam. I do require an e-mail address since it's easier for me to respond to them personally via e-mail in most cases since the comment might not involve something that needs to be discussed publicly. But that's just the way I see it :p
