| Changing the goal date doesn't seem to change the image. The image always displays my goal date as 2010-09-09. http://farook.org/graph.php?pid=236
Edit: it actually displays the correct goal date, but under the "days to go" it is always 2010-09-09 |

| | OK, it's been a long time since I wrote that and so I couldn't remember what was going on. So had to go back and take a look at the code before I remembered what was happening Basically, the graph is correct but the wording might need a little bit of tweaking. The 2010-09-09 is the date your goal would be reached at the current rate of writing. The actual goal date is displayed at the top as "Target Date" and the word rate you need to reach that target date is given on the last line as "words/day for target" - does that clarify things? | | | Logged |

| Thanks for taking a look at it. I really like this compared to other word count meters I've seen. Thanks for creating it.
I understand now. Yeah, the wording might need some tweaking and maybe the "days to go" should be to the set goal date, not the projected at rate date. It is interesting to see what the actual date would be at my current rate. Displaying the "words/day for target" near it makes it seem like it's for the latter date, though. So some of my confusion might be a result of juxtaposing those two data.
Here's a suggestion:
<project name>
<end date>
## days to go [use end date]
words written: ##
words remaining: ##
average words/day: ##
words/day for target: ##
projected completion at current rate: <date>
Perhaps there's a more concise label for that last one? Nothing comes to mind at the moment |
