macro which checks for adverbs, passive words, overl
« on: August 02, 2010, 04:49:37 AM »
On Lite Literary website, I found a neat macro checking the currently open document for adverbs, passive words, overly used words and cliches/misused words and then highlighting them in different colors.

The directions say:

If you are using Word 2007, then go to the Developer tab. (If you don't have a Developer tab in your ribbon bar, you might need to go to Word options and enable it first.) Click on the Visual Basic button on the Developer tab to open the macro editor. Then, paste the code in and click the Save button and close the macro editor. And to run the macro, simply click on the Macros button on the Developer tab to get a list of available macros that you can execute.

Actually, I'm using 2010, but the feature doesn't seem changed. WHERE do I paste it? HOW?

I don't have Word 2010 handy at the moment since I'm on a Mac but the following link appears to have what should be the solution. Of course, you probably would need to change step #6 and instead of importing the macro, paste it in as in the original directions. The rest should be about the same :)

How do I copy the text from the website to a macro file *.frm, *.bas, or *.cls?

Word doesn't have those extensions.

You shouldn't need to use the extensions. If you use the VB editor, it should simply save the document in the appropriate format. Or am I missing something? Because you don't need to save anything in Word itself - just in the macro editor in Word. If you can tell me which step you're stuck on, it might help ...
